for those of you who know downtown LA, it's a mushpot of different ethnicities. this for me translates into one thing: damn good food. a few days ago, i treated my mom to the raved-about Wurstküche the "purveyor of exotic grilled sausages". the handsome order-taker-dude convinced me on the rattlesnake & rabbit sausage. toasted bun. whole grain mustard. juicy goodness. i ordered it with some damn good crispy belgian fries, sprinkled with massive chunks of seasalt. sausage and fries : $10.

but the germans aren't the only ones grillin' downtown. the mexican hotdog trucks scattered across the fashion/garment districts have been around since i was just a little tot. and so today, i ventured to the nearest streetdog stand (which conveniently was parked right below our loft). this one was bacon wrapped, topped with sauteed onions and a damn good tomato/cilantro/avocado salsa. the bacon onion salsa combo was what i imagine they would serve in mexican heaven. served with an ice cold coke and a whole lot of love... hotdog and coke: $4. -anton
