Get International with the Krochet Kids!!!

When was the last time you did some krochet on a cool summer day sipping on wimbeldon's? Or played a game of chrochet arguing over the finer points of life with your fellow enthusiasts? Do you even know what a "wimbeldon" is? Exactly.

Either way I bet it's been quite a while, but this sort of thing is business as usual for Krochet Kids International or K/K INTL (for the brevity afficianados vive le quickness!!!).

These Costa Mesa based do gooders have created a non for profit company with the mission of empowering people to rise above poverty by helping them to create sustainable economic programs. For example, I bought a beautiful hand woven nautical themed beanie that was woven by a group of women in a small village in Uganda. K/K Intl is giving them the infrastructure and the market to sell! The piece is rad for lack of a better word and it is for a great cause. I personally love it when my own personal drive to be "bitchin' " ends up helping groups of people to re-gain a lost dignity and give them a glimmer of hope for a better tomorrow.

Grateful

Today while I was trekin' through the hills of San Fransisco with my cousins. We cruised through lower Haight street, and just so happened to stumble upon The Grateful Dead house. It was such an overwhelming experience to see where one of the greatest bands of the hippie movement stayed. You can only imagine what crazy, life changing things that went down on that stair case.

Ocean Conservancy: International Coastal Cleanup

Every year on the third Saturday of September, all the best people have the same social engagement: Get together and clean up the beaches around the world. The event is the International Coastal Cleanup, and this year that date is September 19th. Last year 400,000 volunteers in 100 countries and 42 US states collected more than 6.8 million pounds of trash. Instead of just removing the trash, people are encouraged to look for the source as well, and think of solutions to help people change their acts of littering in the first place. You can sign up to clean up on the Ocean Conservancy site.

Yes, it's true. Some people wear it on their sleeve, but I'm a t-shirt kinda guy. Dr. Monty did the proceedure and folks, I'm not sure how he did this, I was on heavy medication at the time. I'm pretty sure this is kind of a big deal, science. That's right science, I'm talking to you.
